End It Movement

Today is End It Movement Day, February 27th

"This February 27th, join us and other Freedom Fighters from around the world as we SHINE A LIGHT ON SLAVERY. Tell your world that slavery still exists and you won’t stand for it. This is OUR TIME. This is OUR MOMENT. We believe slavery can end in our lifetime…together we can END IT!

What is Slavery?

Slavery has many forms and names, but it’s still slavery. And it’s still wrong.
Can you imagine being forced to work without pay, trapped, unable to walk away, subject to violence or the threat of violence, by another person as they control you? Own you? Isolated, yet hidden in plain sight. This is reality for those trapped in slavery today. In the year 2015. Slavery is illegal in every single country in the world. Yet it still exists

Types of Slavery

Bonded Labor

Bonded labor is one of the most common forms of slavery in the world today. Bonded labor victims are often born into slavery, forced to repay a loan, sometimes from generations before. Indebted, often through deception and a system stacked against them.

Forced Labor

Forced labor is any work or service someone is forced to do, against their will, under the threat of punishment, with little to no pay. This is most frequently found in labor-intensive, under-regulated industries, such as agriculture, fishing, domestic work, construction, mining, quarrying and manufacturing.

Human Trafficking

Human trafficking is when someone is taken away from their home, family, or community and transported to another city or country, many times under a false promise of employment or a better life. Victims are stripped of their identity, then forced to work against their will, with no hope or way to return home.

Isaiah 1:17 (AMP)  Learn to do right! Seek justice, relieve the oppressed, and correct the oppressor. Defend the fatherless, plead for the widow.

James 1:27 (AMP) External religious worship [religion as it is expressed in outward acts] that is pure and unblemished in the sight of God the Father is this: to visit and help and care for the orphans and widows in their affliction and need, and to keep oneself unspotted and uncontaminated from the world.

Psalm 82:3-4 (AMP)
Do justice to the weak (poor) and fatherless; maintain the rights of the afflicted and needy.
Deliver the poor and needy; rescue them out of the hand of the wicked.

Awareness of the issue is only the very first step.  When we hear of such perversions occurring around the world today, we can no longer sit idle with empty, hollow, shallow faith.  If Christ is our Lord and Savior, we can utilize HIS Power and SHINE HIS Light!  We must wake up and realize that we are the ones who hold the power to change this.  There are those in place, on the front lines, who are fighting the battle in the slums.  And THE VERY LEAST we can do is spread awareness and contribute our meager offerings to support these brave brothers and sisters in Christ.

One of my personal friends is a victim of human trafficking who is far and away one of the deepest women of faith I have ever met.  I have also had the privilege of meeting many other incredible woman who have been rescued out of this dehumanizing industry.  Please understand that my plea is not from one on the outside, but from someone who has sat at the kitchen table to listen to the inside stories that will keep you up at night.  I have watched tears fall from precious eyes that have seen too much, at too young an age.  And yet, I have heard these same voices praise our Father with such purity and gratitude.  I have watched beauty radiating from these ladies that has been resurrected from a life of ashes.  Redemption is HIS Plan!  HE offers is to ALL!!  Let's spread the Good News of the Gospel to as many people as we can, as fast as we can!

And what are we doing with those that HE has so graciously entrusted to us?  What are we teaching them?  To earn the almighty dollar?  To chase after and pursue things of this world (money, fame, the world's approval, etc.)?  Are we teaching them to only be concerned with themselves-with our ridiculous age of perpetual selfies and endless striving for human perfection and self-satisfaction?

Deuteronomy 6:4-9 (AMP)
Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God is one Lord [the only Lord].  And you shall love the Lord your God with all your [mind and] heart and with your entire being and with all your might.  And these words which I am commanding you this day shall be [first] in your [own] minds and hearts; [then] You shall whet and sharpen them so as to make them penetrate, and teach and impress them diligently upon the [minds and] hearts of your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down and when you rise up.  And you shall bind them as a sign upon your hand, and they shall be as frontlets (forehead bands) between your eyes.  And you shall write them upon the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Why not give up the empty rewards of a world that will fade away and teach them about the treasures that will last for an eternity?  Why not teach them that to give is better than to receive?  Why not show by example that where our treasure is, there our heart is also?  Why not demonstrate that Greater Love-the one that lays down his/her life for their friend?

I, we-these four kids of mine and I, know about the brevity of life.  Won't you also look around and understand that you too only have this short, one little life to give.  You will give it...that I promise you!  Where you will give it...now that is your choice!

Jump a little higher

So, here she stands, at the edge of her fear.  She contemplates if she has what it takes to jump.  She carefully moves to the end to see how far down she is going to fall.  After a careful evaluation, she decides it best not to jump.  Through the course of the evening I watched her repeat this process, only to return to the dock, unsuccessful each time.  Then, the unthinkable happens right in front of my eyes.   She is pushed.  She had been working up the courage to jump, and instead of faith and patience, she received a careless shove.  She came up out of the water in tears, with fear in her eyes.  My heart broke for my precious P.  She is my child, and is inclined to the same fear struggles that her mama has walked with for 32 years.   I don't remember if her Daddy had a lot of words to say to her, but I do remember what happened next.  You see, his style was always example with few words.  He spoke volumes through a life well lived, without ever having to announc

The Power Within

As I sit in my bedroom floor, here at 9:30 PM, writing this blog post, I am so deeply saddened to be here alone.  I honestly do not have the words to describe my feelings for my husband and the hole that I now have in my soul because of his absence.  He was the greatest man that I have ever known.  He was used by God to usher me into a deep relationship with the Lord and I do not know how I can possibly spend the rest of my life without him.  With all that said, I know in the deepest part of my soul that God will carry me the rest of my days. I did not start out with great security in my spiritual life that I have today.  You see, I used to (and am sure I still do) have some really messed up views of God and who He is.  As I look back over the past 10 years of my life I can see God's Hand at work, many times through Conner, to right my wrong assumptions of who He was.  Hurt, fear and pain can work overtime to thwart our views of God.  If we are not careful to seek Truth when

Resolution: Marriage

I so wanted to write this post before today, but with New Year's resolutions, who cares when you actually start them!!!  I am honestly encouraging a life change, not just a New Year's resolution that will quickly be dropped and the old habit easily picked up again.  I am writing to all you married folks out there.  I am going to write a plea from someone who wishes she could make changes in her marriage today.  Yet, that opportunity was stolen from me this August and I wish, with all my being, that I had the chance to be a different wife to my precious Conner.  I wish that I had the opportunity, as you do, to make a conscientious decision to change my behavior towards, and my thought pattern about my dear husband!   It's like that song, "You don't know what you got 'til it's gone," but with greater pain than can be explained in words.  Words can't even come close to describing the pain of losing him! I would love for you to pause right here
